Live Telephone-Townhall Draws over 6,000 Voters
PLANO, TX – Texans for Fiscal Responsibility (TFR), yesterday endorsed conservative candidate Van Taylor for the open 8th District Texas Senate seat via a highly successful telephone-townhall that drew over 6,000 live participants from Senate District 8. This is was TFR’s first endorsement of the 2014 election cycle and further solidifies Taylor as the conservative’s choice for the open senate seat.
“As a member of the Texas House, Van Taylor has done what he said he would do: put the principles of his constituents ahead of the special interests in Austin. That same commitment and integrity is needed now in the Texas Senate,” Texans for Fiscal Responsibility President Michael Quinn Sullivan said. “Van Taylor has led the way in proposing commonsense legislation that protects taxpayers, strengthens the economy, secures property rights, and shines more sunlight on government. As a true Taxpayer Champion, Van Taylor has proven that he can be counted on to do what is right for a stronger, better Texas."
“Texans for Fiscal Responsibility is a well-respected conservative voice for limited government and personal liberty,” said Taylor. “Whether it is protecting the Rainy Day Fund, maintaining our state's strong AAA credit rating, or keeping our taxes low by stopping the ever expanding nature of government, I have had the privilege of working side-by-side with TFR on many critical issues. Their endorsement will help us continue to promote our conservative message across the district.”
Taylor, who has a 100% meeting policy with constituents, added that he appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from the over 6,000 voters. “I appreciate every opportunity I get to hear directly from people in our district, much less the ability to speak to thousands. This is the people's seat and last night's telephone-townhall was a great opportunity for me to gain their insight on the pressing issues facing our state and district.”
Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, a 501c4 non-profit corporation, is a direct advocacy entity created to sustain a system of strong fiscal stewardship within all levels of Texas government. Among their missions is to ensure the greatest amounts of economic and personal liberty, and promote public policies that provide individuals with the freedom to use their strengths and talents in pursuit of greater opportunities.
This announcement follows the unprecedented unified early endorsements the entire Senate District 8 House Delegation consisting of Jodie Laubenburg, Scott Turner, Scott Sanford, Jeff Leach, Stefani Carter, and Angie Chen Button earlier this week. Last week Taylor also became the first candidate “TeaAppproved” by the North Texas Tea Party for the 2014 Election Cycle.
