Former Representative Jerry Madden Endorses Van Taylor for Texas Senate

PLANO, TX – Representative Van Taylor today announced another key endorsement in that of former Plano Representative, Jerry Madden.  Today’s announcement follows a series of significant endorsements including every State Representative that serves a portion of Senate District 8, Texans for Lawsuit Reform, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Texas Right to Life, Conservative Republicans of Texas, and Texas Eagle Forum President* Cathie Adams. Taylor is also the only candidate to have earned the North Texas Tea Party’s ‘TeaApproved’ recognition.

“I have lived in Collin County for 42 years and had the privilege of serving in the legislature for 20 of them,” said Representative Madden. “I served with Van Taylor, and know from experience he is the right person to represent us in the Texas Senate.  Van represents the next generation of conservative leaders, and has the knowledge and experience to make a significant positive impact for Collin County.  He is principled, hard working, and never loses sight of whom he serves.  It is my honor and privilege to endorse my friend and fellow combat veteran Van Taylor for the Texas Senate.”

Representative Taylor said, “I want to thank Representative Madden for his kind words and endorsement of our campaign.  He has served our area honorably for two decades, and is a truly respected leader in our community. His support and counsel will be extremely valuable as we continue to build on our strong grassroots campaign.”

A 42-year resident of Collin County, Representative Madden was first elected to represent HD-67 in 1992.  He retired from the legislature in 2012 after twenty years of service. Madden graduated West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He subsequently spent six years in the Army, including one year in Vietnam and two years in Germany, before bringing his family to Richardson, Texas in 1971.

Madden and his wife Barbara, a retired nurse, have been married more than four decades. They are the proud parents of three adult children - Jerry, Stephanie, and Kristina - and have six grandchildren.
